BOGOF for car finance customers

BOGOF offers (Buy One Get One Free) are traditionally associated with packs of toothpaste, ready meals, or minced meat. However, in what the AA has described as an "almost unbelievable" offer, car finance customers are being offered a free car with their purchase.

Car makers are facing slowing sales and as such, they are selling vehicles at a loss - just to move them off their forecourts. Hundreds of brand new Dodge Avenger SXT 2.4i saloons, equipped with leather seating, alloy wheels, climate control, and satnav are being sold on a '2 for 1' basis.

Customers with car finance to spend can lay out £20,000 and get two saloons for their money.

AA spokesperson Vanessa Guyll said: "In 23 years in the industry I have never seen anything like this - it's almost unbelievable. Many within the industry will react with shock at this. There is no doubt the problems in the car market are severe and this shows that dealers are now being forced to offer extraordinary deals.

"Dealers have a lot of stock they cannot shift and clearly they are now prepared to do so at a loss. The credit crunch has had an enormous impact and it's very hard to get a loan but it's actually a brilliant time to buy a car if you have the money."
