Car loan customers divided about environmental options

16/05/2008

The Chief Executive of AutoNation, Mike Jackson, has decreed that cumbersome, fuel-guzzling vehicles are "dead and not coming back". Large motors such as the sports utility vehicle (SUV) are falling in popularity with car loan customers, as they become increasingly concerned with the environment and fuel efficacy. "We have a consumer migration to fuel efficiency", Said Mr. Jackson in an article for nectcars.co.uk. "And by the way, we need it." The escalating price of petrol has led to motorists -including customers needing a car loan to complete their purchase -looking for vehicles that are both more economically and environmentally friendly. Large capacity vehicles, such as the SUV, have dominated the market for decades. However, environmental concerns are now much higher on the average agenda than in previous years, meaning the popularity of the non-fuel efficient SUV goes down. Conversely, this has meant that some car loan customers have used this situation to their advantage. As the SUVs become less popular, they become cheaper, which makes them more affordable than ever. Therefore, some car loan customers consider there has never been a better time to buy one.
